Farm Retreats with Har-Prakash
Shinzen has frequently said he wished he could take onsite retreatants home with him, knowing the progress they could make with regular, customized supervision. We have built two cabins specifically for this purpose. I periodically offer this high-quality supervision to a small number of committed solo practitioners whom I coach online or who are otherwise familiar with Shinzen's system and meet my criteria.
Minimum Prerequisite:
You have previously worked with me or are an intermediate-to-advanced practitioner with a history of group retreat practice.
Minimum Stay:
7-Days
Maximum Stay:
Negotiable
Number of People:
Solo, Couples, 2-4 Friends
Dates:
Dependent on my schedule and limited to spring, summer, and fall. Some people prefer spring and fall because there are fewer bugs and the weather is cooler. Others prefer the summer months, when organic produce is available from the farm, and the swimming is warmest in Georgian Bay at our local beach.
Location:
On our 105-acre off-grid farm, near Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. We are about 2-1/2 to 3 hours north of Toronto. (View Map).
Housing:
The original two-story retreat cabin (pictured above) and the new hay wagon cabin. These cabins have no electricity. There are two outdoor compost toilets: one covered with twin toilets close to the original retreat cabin, and a second exposed to the elements, closer to the hay wagon cabin. Both cabins have a wood stove for heat.
Showers:Â
Hot - Outdoors with a solar shower camping bag.
Cold - Indoors in the farmhouse.
Meals:
All meals are self-prepared. Cooking is on a two-burner propane camping stove. You must always use the camp cookstove outside only.
Schedule:
The schedule is flexible. I can share a few examples of retreat schedules as prototypes, and you can customize your schedule as you wish in consultation with me. There is a two-hour work-practice period before or after lunch in the gardens, greenhouse, orchard, or elsewhere on the property. I meet with you in the evenings or late afternoon to review your day and offer suggestions, as well as the occasional guided meditation on how you can navigate walls (challenges) and take advantage of windows (opportunities).
